The Town of High River is committed to leading by example and choosing environmentally responsible business choices.
Corporate Initiatives
- Recycling mixed paper, newspaper, magazines, cardboard, and aluminim cans at all Town locations
- Development of a responsible buying policy (procurement policy)
- No Idling education program for Town employees with vehicles
- "No Idle" Zones in cooperation with Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools
- Formation of Environmental Advisory Committee to Council in 2007
- Indoor composting pilot program for the Town Office
- Purchased smaller fleet vehicles, that includes two Toyota Prius Hybrids, reducing fossil fuel usage.

Business Information
Environmentally responsible business management is in everyone's best interest, here are a few tips to help you run a successful "Green" business
- Start a recycling program at work, if possible include composting
- Recycle construction waste (chip old wood, compost gypsum, etc.)
- Develop a responsible buying policy that includes products with less packaging and are either made from or packaged in recycled products.
- Never purchase styrofoam containers. (Styrofoam is very hard to recycle and it is not biodegradable.)
