Permit & Inspection Process
Building permit information and application
Building permits deal with the structural stability of buildings and the health and safety of the building's occupants.
Building permits are required for:
- construction of a new building
- installation of a solid fuel applicance (i.e. wood stove or wood fireplace)
- installation of a swimming pool or hot tub
- wheelchair ramps
- decks or porches
- change in occupancy of any building (i.e. from retail to office, or office to restaurant, etc.)
- addition to any building
- alteration to any building
- demolition of any building
- relocation of any building
- reconstruction of any building that has been damages by fire, earthquake or other cause (i.e. flood, tornado, etc.)
- correction of an unsafe condition in any building
Building Permits are NOT required for:
- fence
- residential accessory building not greater than 100 sq ft in building area that does not create a hazaard. Please contact Building Services for clarification.
