About Development Services

The Development Services directorship is primarily focused upon administering and overseeing the use of land within the Town of High River.  The overall directorship has been divided into three departments to achieve its mandate; Planning & Development, Building Services and Business & Tourism Development.

Planning & Development looks after and updates the Town's Land Use Bylaw and Area Structure (community) plans seeking to ensure that all uses of land comply with town bylaws while Building Services administers the Town's building permit process ensuring that residences and other structures meet the requirements of the Alberta Building and Fire Code. 

Business & Tourism Development is charged with strengthening, fostering and supporting new and existing businesses and tourism opportunities.
