Municipal Emergency Management Plan
The Town of High River’s Emergency Management Plan (MEMP) is a guide that helps prepare for the response to major emergencies and disasters within the town.
Are you and your family prepared for 72 Hours?
Be prepared to have NO services for 72 hours in an emergency situation. You can pack your own kit(s) or you can source these through retailers or help organizations such as The Red Cross. In any case, your kit(s) should contain at least these items:
- Food
- Water (4 litres/person/day)
- Clothing
- Medications
- Toilet paper
- Money
- Pet Carrier(s)
These items should be packed and all located in one easy to reach location should an emergency situation occur. Everyone in the household should know where the 72 Hour kit can be found.
Other helpful hints:
- Know your neighbors – statistics and history shows the most immediate help during an emergency comes from them.
-
Up-date your First Aid – once you have it, recertification is easier and less time consuming than having to start over.
-
Know the hazards – always be familiar with the hazards within your own home, property, neighborhood and place of work.
