Road Maintenance
With over 74.2 km of open roads covering nearly 1450 hectares, the Town of High River’s road maintenance crew always has a job to do. In between the huge tasks of street cleaning and snow removal the roads crew is also kept busy with patching and painting roads, sidewalk and curb repairs, street sign and traffic light maintenance, as well as grading the laneways.
Street Cleaning starts in mid-March and runs until the end of September. Residents will be notified prior to the day of cleaning in the form of large placard signs placed alongside the roads. Please adhere to these no parking requests as the crews are there to remove the leftover winter sanding debris and the mud from the summer rains.
Snow Removal is completed on an “as required basis” and first priority is given to the streets carrying the most traffic. The Town would like to remind motorists that the streets will be snow covered or slippery for a certain period of time and for the safety of all our Town residents and visitors please adjust your driving habits to the road conditions.

Snow is removed from the Happy Trails on a regular basis. Normally the first workday after a snowstorm, pending availability of equipment, staff are dispatched to remove snow from all of our Happy Trails. We do not normally perform ice removal or ice control operations on the Happy Trails.
