Seniors Independent Living Program
The program is designed to assist seniors to remain in their own homes for as long as possible, if that is their wish. FCSS subsidizes up to 70% of the contracted services and the client pays the difference.
Program Eligibility Criteria*
- 65 and over
- Resident of High River/MD of Foothills
- Living in own home or apartment
- Doctor/Social Worker/ Community Agency Referral
- Income not to Exceed $24,200 single or $37,900 married as per line 150 of the Notice of Tax Assessment
Services may include:
- Housekeeping Services
- Grocery Shopping
- Meal Preparation
- Minor, non mechanical home repair
- Heavy Housecleaning (one time only)
- No health or medical services are provided by the program.
Transportation
- Medical appointments in Calgary or Okotoks only.
- Arranged through FCSS; at least 4 days in advance
- Maximum 2 trips monthly
*Note: Selection for the program is based on greatest need and determined by High River FCSS.
What the client pays:
Home Services:
- Routine Housekeeping - $7/hour
- Heavy Housekeeping (one time only) - $15/hour
- Initial in home assessment - $5
Transportation:
- Calgary – Round Trip - $35
- Okotoks – Round Trip - $20
- There is additional charges for waiting time over 2 hours.
How to Access the Program
- Call the FCSS office at 403-652-8620 to make an appointment.
- Please bring your most recent Notice of Assessment and a referral letter to the appointment.
- If eligible, an in-home assessment will be scheduled to determine the type and amount of service required.
- FCSS will bill the clients their portion of the fees.
- The need for continued services will be evaluated on an on-going basis.
- Updated Notices of Assessment must be provided by July 30th each year.
