About Family Community Support Services (FCSS)
Mission: "Promote volunteerism and enhance, strenghten and support family and community life by focusing on programs that prevent the breakdown of social principles and support the family."
The FCSS program is a joint funding initiative between the province and municipalities. Town Council appoints an Advisory Board (click here for more information) who provides support, direction and community input to FCSS.
The Mandate of FCSS is to promote volunteerism and to develop programs within the community that are preventative in nature and to:
- Enhance, strengthen and support family and community life;
- Improve people’s ability to identify and act on their own needs;
- Help avert family or community social breakdown;
- Provide citizens with information about its planning and operation;
- Encourage co-operation and coordination with other service agencies.
To fulfill this mandate, FCSS offers the following programs and services (click on title for more information):

FCSS also participates in, or facilitates, the following Community Collaborations:
- High River Interagency Committee meets every two months at lunch time to discuss issues of common interest to social agencies. Suggestions for presentations are always welcome! For more information, please contact the FCSS office.

All interagency meetings are at Town Office.
- The Calgary United Way/High River Partnership– with the support of United Way of Calgary and Area, the partnership communities invest in programs that address the most pressing issues in the community.
