Electronics now accepted at High River Recycling Centre
High River, AB: As of December 7 an electronics bin will be added to the High River Recycling Centre where residents will be able to drop off used electronics. Eligible products include televisions, computers (CPU, keyboard, mouse, cables, and speakers), monitors, printers, laptops and tablets. There is no additional cost to residents for this service because Environmental fees are already applied at the time of purchase on all eligible electronics in Alberta. Cell phones are already being accepted at the Recycling Centre.
“We’ve had a lot of demand from residents requesting the addition of electronics to the town’s recycling program,” said Joe Angevine, waste and recycling supervisor for the town. “It’s basically a win-win situation. The town gets to reduce waste going to landfills and residents get the convenience of dropping off their electronics right here in town.”
Once the electronics are dropped off at the Recycling Centre they are transported to an electronics processor where they are reduced to plastics, metals and glass and are then reused by manufacturers to create new products.
The High River Recycling Centre is located on the west side of the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex at 228 – 12 Avenue SE and is open from 8 AM – 6 PM Tuesday to Thursday and from 8 AM – 5 PM Friday to Monday.
