Composting
Town Council and Public Operations have officially begun the Bokashi Organic Composting Pilot Project. Thirty three households have purchased a Bokashi Fermenting System and are beginning to collect their food and organic waste for composting. They will be burying their fermented organic waste in their garden beds and backyards.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the organics survey, to view the results please click here.
The Town of High River, with the help of Leslie Scrimshaw, has created four videos to explain the Bokashi composting system, how to make the bran that is the central ingredient to Bokashi, answer some common questions about the system and provide a case study of how this system can significantly decrease the amount of organic waste and garbage going into landfills.
For more information or if you are interested in purchasing your own Bokashi Fermenting System please contact Public Operations at 403.603.3523.
