The lights will be officially ‘turned on’ prior to the parade, with ceremonies getting under way at 5 p.m. at the entrance to George Lane Park (343 Macleod Trail SW, High River). The Lions Club of High River will be on hand with hot dogs and hot chocolate and The Rotary Club of High River will have light wands for the first 1,000 children. There will also be a chance to meet Elsa, Anna & Olaf along with other activities before the switch is thrown!

The Stampede Stage will be set up shortly after 6 p.m. until the start of the Parade.

The Highwood High School Christmas Market

Nov. 24 from 5 – 9 p.m. and Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Vendors: $30.00 a table or $50 for 2. Come and share your home based businesses, crafts, Christmas goodies or talents.

There will be amazing silent auction items, draws, door prizes, food, sweets and more.

Foothills SNAPS Winter Market

December 1,  in the Highwood Memorial Centre (128-5 Ave W, High River) from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.

This year, the market will extend outdoors along 4 Avenue S.W.  from 5 – 9 p.m.

The High River United Church  ‘Gifts of Hope Christmas Market’

Dec. 1 from 4:30 – 8 p.m. and hot chocolate and hot dogs from 5 – 6 p.m. There will also be an 8 p.m. hand bell concert.

The Town of High River and the Light Up George Lane Park Committee are excited to announce that a temporary outdoor skating rink will be installed on the ball diamond in George Lane Park this holiday season.

The project has been organized with support from the Rotary Club of High River, the High River Kinsmen and the Highwood Lions Club; as well as High River’s Home Hardware, Canadian Tire and Lutes Timber Mart; with additional support from representatives of FortisAlberta Inc. and Clean Harbors Canada.

Skating will be available as soon as the weather is cold enough to properly install the ice surface.

Currently, the area is to be regarded as an active construction zone, and residents and other visitors to the park are asked to stay clear and obey construction signage for their safety.

Any entrance or activities in or near the construction area, excluding authorized personnel, are not encouraged or supported by the Town and users do so at their own risk.

at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex.

Free hotdogs and hot chocolate

Event is free – donations to the food bank will be accepted.

The High River Hospital Auxiliary will host a Craft and Bake Sale on Thursday, November 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the main floor of the hospital outside of the lab/Gift Shop and the elevators.

The High River Hospital Auxiliary will also host the annual Servus Bake Sale on Friday, December 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, in the lobby of the Servus Credit Union on Centre Street.
